Short Update: UK Prisons and Probation Ombudsman to continue to operate remotely

FairTrialsAdmin - May 14, 2020 - COVID-19 Updates, Prison monitoring

The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman ("PPO") will continue to operate remotely following the closure of its office building in March. Since then, the PPO has adapted its working practices to ensure work is not disrupted during this period. For instance, it is using a postal scanning company to ensure that prisoner complaints can be communicated, videoconferencing to conduct interviews and it is also providing important information notices to prisoners via the Prison Radio service.
