Expert Consultant in Criminology – EU

Fair Trials is seeking an external expert in criminology for the project “Improving judicial assessment of flight risk” which is part funded by the European Union and runs from 1 June 2022 to 30 April 2024.

The role of the external expert is to support and advise project partners in their research methodology, incorporate a sociological analysis of research findings and develop recommendations that reflect the broader systemic functioning of criminal justice.

Finance Officer – Brussels

Fair Trials is a fast growing and dynamic organisation. It is growing not only its income but also its influence in the criminal justice field. The role provides an opportunity for an ambitious, technically strong and outgoing individual to provide financial leadership, advice and support to Fair Trials’ Brussels-based foundation and its charitable activities. The role will require someone who is hands on but also analytical and able to work effectively with financial and non-financial staff both within and outside the organisation.

Reporting to the Financial Controller (London), this will be an important role in ensuring:

  • excellent management of Finance and Operations for the Brussels office in collaboration with the London office;
  • ongoing improvements in all aspects of finance for the entity;
  • good quality grant budgets and reporting are carried out;
  • high quality support for the team in Brussels as required.

Interns and externs – Washington DC

We welcome applications from students who would like to join Fair Trials as an intern or extern. The Americas division of Fair Trials covers work in the United States and Latin America. Please indicate in your application which geographic area you would like to focus on (the US or Latin America). If your preference is to focus on our work in Latin America, please note that we are specifically seeking applicants who speak fluent Spanish and/or Portuguese. English fluency is not required but welcomed.

Interns will be based in our Americas office in Washington DC or choose to work remotely from the US or Latin America. We do not accept any unpaid interns. You must receive funding for an internship (through your school or another public interest funding source) or apply for school credit to extern with Fair Trials.
