Chanel Cornett

Legal and Policy Officer

Chanel advances Fair Trials’ legal and policy work in the United States, with a focus on plea bargaining and access to counsel. Before joining Fair Trials, Chanel spent a year working for the California Attorney General’s legal and policy advisory team on issues such as criminal justice reform, immigration, environmental justice, and health care. In law school, she interned in the felony trial unit of the Public Defender Services for the District of Columbia and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. She also participated in Howard Law’s Fair Housing Clinic where she advocated for the fair housing rights of disadvantaged D.C. tenants. Chanel received her law degree from Howard University School of Law.
