Since the introduction of the European Arrest Warrant, Fair Trials International has supported many victims of the misuse and overuse of the system.
These victims have included Andrew Symeou – who was extradited to Greece where he spent ten months in prison before finally being cleared of any wrongdoing, Garry Mann – extradited following a trial in Portugal described by UK authorities as “so unfair as to be incompatible with [his] right to a fair trial”; and young mother Natalia Gorczowska, who was ordered to be extradited to Poland for a minor crime committed many years before.
This short film features Fair Trials Chief Executive Jago Russell highlighting the problems with the European Arrest Warrant, and also hears from the people who have lived through it.
