Jodie Blackstock
Jodie Blackstock is a barrister practicing in England and Wales and the Caribbean in claims relating to the criminal justice system and broader public law matters. Before joining Garden Court Chambers in 2021 she was Legal Director of JUSTICE, a leading access to justice NGO in the UK. She is regularly instructed in claims against the police, prosecution authorities and prisons.
Jodie’s particular interest is in challenging, through judicial review and civil actions, criminal justice system actors for violations of fair trial standards, abuse, and death in custody. She is particularly concerned for the effective participation rights of adults with disabilities and children accused of crime. Jodie is also Treasurer of the Bar Human Rights Committee of England and Wales and a Board member of LEAP.
