Short Update: UK's MOJ published Covid-19 specific guidance for Registered Intermediaries involved within the Witness Intermediary Scheme

FairTrialsAdmin - April 29, 2020 - COVID-19 Updates

The Ministry of Justice (''MOJ'') has published guidance for 'Registered Intermediaries' as part of their Witness Intermediary Scheme. 'Registered Intermediaries' are self-employed communication specialists who support vulnerable witnesses and complainants to give evidence to the police and to the court in criminal trials, through the Witness Intermediary Scheme. They provide support to over 500 victims and witnesses every month, allowing the authorities access to higher quality professional support when it is needed. The new MOJ guidance helps these individuals understand how they will be supported to operate as well as specifically outlining how the UK's broader principles of social distancing will be maintained and high-risk individuals shielded during the pandemic.
