On the 24 April, the Ministry of Justice, Her Majesty's Prison and Probate Services and Public Health England published an interim assessment on their population strategy for prisons in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The strategy includes aims to enhance social distancing, increasing ‘compartmentalisation’ in prisons – but say that in the absence of a vaccine or effective treatment, risks of large outbreaks in prisons will remain.
The publication includes key findings on how effective strategies for coping with COVID-19 in prison have been, including an addendum which outlines the modelling assumptions used to reach these conclusions.
