MPs were told by the Commons Justice Committee that at the prison estate has been in a state of lockdown for 15 weeks and that prisoners have not yet transitioned out of this state. NGOs assisting the Committee had reported that conditions in prisons remained consistent with international definitions of solitary confinement, with some inmates allowed out of their cells for only 30 minutes a day. MPs expressed concern about the longevity of the lockdown measures.
