On 11 April, the National Police Chiefs' Council Chair provided an update on policing during the pandemic. Amongst other comments on general policing, the Chair gave an indication of early data on Coronavirus-related police offences collated up to 8 April. Drawing from this early data from 37 police forces, he set out that as a daily average, police were issuing fewer than 84 fines a day. He also confirmed that 'in the few cases where officers (…) have made mistakes in interpreting new regulations' they have rapidly set out to remedy them.
