Short Update: UK government accused of ‘unconstitutionally’ using emergency procedures to pass new COVID-19 laws

Legal activists in the UK have threatened legal challenge against the government over lockdown laws. The government is accused of acting unconstitutionally, by bypassing ordinary parliamentary procedure to introduce new criminal laws. By using emergency procedures, the UK government has been accused of avoiding parliamentary scrutiny and depriving the public the opportunity to be notified in advance of the new laws.
