Short Update: UK barristers demand cleaner magistrates' courts

FairTrialsAdmin - May 26, 2020 - COVID-19 Updates, Access to a lawyer

It has been reported that the Criminal Bar Association (CBA) has penned a letter to HM Courts & Tribunals Service to express its concerns about the cleanliness of courts. The CBA suggested that many of its members have serious concerns about returning to court, citing a lack of basic safety measures such as hand sanitiser and bathroom soap. The CBA has been given a seat on the working group overseeing the magistrates' courts in order that it can review developments to protect the wellbeing of its members going forward.
