The Spanish branch of Amnesty International has published a report detailing over five dozen instances of human rights abuses by security forces during Spain’s State of Emergency, which lasted from 14 March until 21 June.
The report groups these abuses into five general categories. These are penalization of homeless persons, arbitrary citations, infringement on press freedoms, excessive use of force and racial profiling, and the carrying out of warrantless searches. Amnesty International further says that the Interior Ministry’s response was muted and did not mention any specific directives or protocols related to the vulnerable groups that the organisation had flagged in its report.
