A woman died in a federal prison in Texas after contracting COVID-19, weeks after giving birth to a child whilst on a ventilator. She had been sentenced to serve 26 months in prison earlier in 2020 for selling a small quantity of drugs to undercover police officers. Although her pregnancy and pre-existing medical conditions made her vulnerable to coronavirus, but was not considered priority for release.
