Short Update: Pilot for virtual civil proceedings launched in Venezuela

FT Admin - August 26, 2020 - COVID-19 Updates, Access to a lawyer, Remote Justice

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Venezuela's Supreme Court suspended court activity, with just a few exceptions such as urgent cases. On 28 July 2020, the Civil Cassation Chamber of the Supreme Court established a pilot plan to introduce virtual platforms for civil court proceedings in a number of states, including Aragua, Anzoátegui and Nueva Esparta. The plan includes rules for the operation of judicial proceedings on the online platform.
