Associazione Antigone, the Italian organisation working to protect human rights in the penal system, has released a report documenting Italian prison conditions and events during the coronavirus pandemic.
The report is divided into three parts, before, during and after the pandemic. Before, in 2019, observers visited 98 penitentiary institutes, in every corner of the country. The report then analyses the three months of the pandemic in Italian prisons, including a critical reading of the riots of 8 and 9 March.
