The Joint Committee on Human Rights has published a report urging the Government to address a number of issues in order to ensure that its handling of the Coronavirus pandemic is human rights compliant. Within the report, the Committee makes recommendations on topics including lockdown regulations, track and trace, the rights of people in detention, access to justice and swift lessons-learned review and public inquiry. The report calls on the Government to ensure that measures taken are proportionate, that interests are properly balanced, and that its decision-making is justified in a transparent manner.
