Short Update: Legal aid lawyers, restricted from client visits, turn to phone consultations in Spain

FairTrialsAdmin - March 30, 2020 - COVID-19 Updates, Access to a lawyer, prison conditions

The Spanish Commissions for Legal Aid have suspended visits by defence attorneys with incarcerated clients. Attorneys representing individuals who are currently detained are now instructed not to consult with their clients in person. However, attorneys have been making greater use of the phone to communicate with their clients.

Additionally, the Legal Orientation Service, which is provided by the Spanish legal bars, has been suspended along with administrative and legal terms.
