On 21 April 2020, it was reported that a Lancashire police officer was suspended after threatening to "make something up" to arrest a man he suspected of breaching the coronavirus lockdown rules.
A video emerged of the police officer confronting a member of the public. The officer claimed that he would "make something up" and asked "who are they going to believe? Me or you?"
Lancashire Police issued a statement on 20 April 2020 apologising for the officer's conduct and announcing that the officer in question was suspended. The matter was also referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct.
