The Hungarian government issued a decree on 27 March 2020, restricting the movement of people by requiring social distancing and by ordering certain curfew-type measures. The question arose how this affects the work of defence lawyers. The Hungarian Bar Association approached the Ministry of Justice in this regard, and the Ministry of Justice replied that beyond appearing before the authorities, attorneys may meet their clients also for consulting before criminal procedure acts and for signing retainers, among others.
