A report (in French) published by PoliceWatch, the Police Violence Observatory of the League for Human Rights, points to abuses that took place during confinement based on testimonies collected from citizens. “We started this research after being alerted by reports of police abuse circulating on social networks and in the press. In early April, we decided to launch a secure testimonial campaign on our site,” explains Saskia Simon, PoliceWatch coordinator.
In total, 75 testimonies were retained and relate to facts which took place in Wallonia and in Brussels between March 18 and May 29.
"Young people, racialised and disadvantaged people are at risk of having more serious problems, such as arrests with the use of force," said PoliceWatch.
