Short Update: Greece keeps extending detention of migrants

FairTrialsAdmin - July 6, 2020 - COVID-19 Updates, Rule of Law

On Saturday 4th of July, Greece announced another extension of coronavirus lockdown in its migrant camps, despite allegations that it is using the pandemic to limit the movement of migrants rather than to protect public health. The latest extension will be in force until the 19th of July.  This is the fifth extension of lockdown in migrant camps in Greece.

During the lockdown the movement of migrants is severely limited. They are allowed to leave the camps from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm only in groups of less than 10 people and no more than 150 people per hour.
