Greece has extended the confinement of migrants in camps for the fourth time with the current extension period ending on 5 July. The previous extension period ending on the 21st of June.
Rights groups have expressed concern that migrants' rights have been eroded by the restrictions. Thousands of people face homelessness as Greek authorities plan to move more than 11,000 people to make space for other asylum seekers currently living in island camps. Refugees could previously keep their accommodation for up to six months after receiving protected status, a period that has now been reduced to just a month by the new conservative government.
