Short Update: Greece extends criminal court closures until 21st June 2020

FT Admin - June 2, 2020 - COVID-19 Updates, Court closures, Delayed or accelerated proceedings

Greece has extended the closure of its criminal courts until the 21st of June 2020. This means most criminal proceedings will continue to be suspended with the same exceptions as were set forth since the beginning of the suspension. This extension was done by virtue of the Common Ministerial Decision dated May 28 2020 (in Greek).

After the 21st June 2020, Greek criminal courts will fully resume their operations in accordance with the health regulations set forth in Article 4 of the Common Ministerial Decision for the safety of the courts during the COVID-19 pandemic. This will require precautions such as the use of protective masks, adequate supply of hand sanitizer in court rooms, people keeping 1.5 meter distance among them and the setting of a maximum number of 20-25 people who can be present in the smallest court rooms.
