Short Update: Greece confers to state and municipal police powers to implement the emergency measures against COVID-19

According to Article 23 of the act of legislative content dated 14.3.2020 (in Greek), modified by Article 69 of the act of legislative content dated 20.3.2020 (in Greek), state and municipal police is – among else - the competent authority to ensure that the emergency measures set forth to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 (e.g. restrictions on all non-essential movement throughout the country) are being followed by the citizens. Specifically, police has the right to ascertain the violations of those measures and to impose, if necessary, administrative fines.
