Justice is "an all-party law reform and human rights organisation which works to strengthen the justice system – administrative, civil and criminal" – based in the UK. It has completed an experimental wholly remote jury trial in order to determine whether it could provide a just substitute for in person hearings during the lockdown period. It was reported that the trial yielded positive results in terms of all parties gaining 'equal visual status', unlike a physical court room. However, Justice warned that technological difficulties such as jurors disappearing from screen could provide grounds for appeal in a real trial. It was additionally suggested that standardisation of background and of the amount of an individual's body displayed on screen would minimise distraction.
