The Penitentiary Administration Secretariat of Pará ("Seap", or Secretaria de Estado de Administração Penitenciária) allowed family members to visit prisoners in 38 prison units in Pará between September 21 and 25. The measure was implemented after an epidemiological assessment based on the protection criteria defined by the State Department of Public Health. Pará was one of the first states to allow visitors since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Visitors must comply with safety protocols, such as mandatory use of masks and social distancing. Physical contact remains prohibited. Public spaces are sanitized and disinfected before and after each visit.
