Short Update: England and Wales courts to test listing cases by firms

FairTrialsAdmin - May 14, 2020 - COVID-19 Updates, Access to a lawyer, Remote Justice

Magistrates' courts in England and Wales are reportedly willing to test a new courts listing system to hear all of a firm's cases in one block in order to keep the number of people attending court to a minimum.

Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is hoping to start ‘block-listing’ across the south east by the end of May. This pilot scheme will cover 'priority' cases including urgent applications for domestic violence protection orders.
