On 24 April 2020, Act no. 191/2020 to mitigate the impact of the epidemic SARS CoV-2 ("Mitigation Act") was issued in order to address, among others, victims of criminal offences.
Under the Mitigation Act, anybody who has missed a deadline set within criminal proceedings during the state of emergency may ask the court for a new deadline without any sanction. The parties to the proceedings should ask for the recovery within three days after the emergency measure is lifted. However, the period shall not expire earlier than three days after the repeal of the state of emergency (which is currently set to expire on 17 May 2020). The measure does not apply to police or prosecutors, only to other participants in the criminal proceedings.
Similar measure applies also to victims regarding deadline to request financial support.
