Short Update: COVID-19 restrictions further isolate political prisoners in Venezuela

FairTrialsAdmin - July 17, 2020 - COVID-19 Updates, Prison monitoring, Prison conditions

Three months ago, the Venezuelan government banned family visits for approximately 500 political prisoners in Venezuelan prisons. As a result, the wellbeing of these prisoners is currently unknown and it is unclear whether these prisoners are receiving food or medication. The families of the political prisoners have asked the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, to take action and confirm the wellbeing of these prisoners.
