Short Update: COVID-19 pushes legal advice agencies in UK to 'breaking point'

admin - April 10, 2020 - COVID-19 Updates, Access to a lawyer

The Access to Justice Foundation and London Legal Support Trust are reported to have made an emergency appeal in order to preserve the legal advice industry. COVID-19 has increased the strain on the 'already fragile' sector. Provision of legal advice services over the phone and internet represent a significant increased cost to advice agencies which are additionally faced with staff losses. These organisations have explained that, unless immediate steps are taken, almost fifty percent of frontline legal advice agencies will be forced to close over the next two months to a year.
