Brazil’s suspension of prison visits has been extended until 28 August, including in-person meetings with attorneys, educational and work activities, religious assistance and guard escorts in federal prison units as a form of prevention and risk control of COVID-19. The measure has been extended monthly since March. A few prison units are trying to innovate and implement virtual visits with the family via videoconference, but this is not a general rule implemented across the country.
