The introduction of the Amnesty Law, approved in April to reduce the prison populations in Mexico, has been delayed by the Coronavirus pandemic. The Amnesty commission met on 12 June but did not release their findings for 11 days despite their agreement that requires them to make documents public within 72 hours. The delay in meetings has put an additional barrier to what NGOs say could have relieved pressure on prisons during the pandemic.
