Join our campaign: put fair trials at the heart of EU justice

On May 22nd, millions of citizens across the EU will go to the polls to elect a new European Parliament, which will in turn shape the EU’s legislative outlook over the next 5 years.
Fair Trials has launched a campaign, calling on the new Parliament to put fair trials at the heart of its work. We’re taking to Twitter to ask all election candidates to pledge their support for this work.
Although the EU has begun to wake up to some of the persistent problems with criminal justice systems, there is still much more work to do if the EU is to fulfil its vision of justice, freedom and security. Hundreds of people each day continue to experience violations of their basic rights in courts and police stations across Europe.
Working with lawyers and experts across the EU, we have identified four priorities which the EU must address. You can read more about the priorities by clicking on the links below:
-          Make existing laws work in practice
-          Follow up on promised new laws
-          End excessive and unjustified pre-trial detention
         Fair cooperation across borders
We’re asking our followers and supporters to show their support for our campaign on Twitter.  Click here to share our new infographic setting out the four campaign priorities.
Alternatively, download the image and tweet it with the following message - “I support @Fairtrials goals: fair trials at the heart of #EUjustice!”.
You can also share the image on Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook or your personal blogs and websites. Tweet us with the links and we will retweet to help you show your commitment to effective EU criminal justice policy.
Fair Trials will continue to work to deliver the changes necessary to protect the fair trial rights of all EU citizens. To read our new report, Stockholm’s Sunset, click here.
