UK's HM Inspectorate of Prisons continues suspension of full prison inspections

FT Admin - June 3, 2020 - COVID-19 Updates

On 1 June, Peter Clarke (HM Chief Inspector of Prisons) announced the continuation of the suspension of full prison inspections conducted by HM Inspectorate of Prisons. Previously, it had been announced that the suspension would end in May 2020. Notwithstanding the suspension, the Inspectorate will continue to conduct short scrutiny visits (SVVs) and enhance the methodology of its SVV model. Further details of the latter will be provided in the coming weeks.
