Fair Trials is governed by a board of twelve trustees, comprising a broad base of expertise.
Deborah is a solicitor with considerable third sector experience. She is CEO of the Incorporated Society of Musicians, is a Trustee of the Music Education Council and Chair of the Educational Recording Agency.
Conrad is a chartered accountant with significant commercial and third sector experience. He is currently the Global Chief Operating Officer of Brummer & Partners one of Europe’s largest hedge fund groups.
Jo started her career in international banking at Midland Bank, before joining KPMG as a consultant. She went on to run her own business, before joining UNICEF in 1998 as a corporate fundraiser, where she also led the private fundraising strategy for a London 2012 legacy programme. Jo now works in major gifts fundraising with English National Ballet, and as a freelance chef.
Matthew is a partner in the Dispute Resolution department of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, specialising in commercial litigation, white-collar crime and global investigations.
Peter is a leading criminal barrister with expertise in fraud, terrorism, homicide and trafficking. He is a visiting professor of law at Birkbeck, University of London and is an expert in international human rights law.
Amy is a partner at Arnold & Porter in Washington DC, working on issues including criminal defence, and national security. She previously worked at the US Justice Department and was attaché to the US Embassy in London. She has also served as Counsellor to the Attorney General, advising the Attorney General and senior Department leadership on national security investigations and prosecutions and international matters.
Lord Hodgson is a Conservative politician, former spokesman on Trade and Industry, and currently Chairman of the Armed Forces Charities Advisory Committee. He is a member of the United Kingdom House of Lords.
Jane is a highly experienced communications professional who formerly owned and managed her own PR consultancy. She now advises boards on Governance Risk. She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and a Fellow of the Public Relations Consultancy Association. Jane holds a variety of Non-Executive roles and is a partner in Reputability LLP.
Eric is a lawyer with significant legal and commercial experience in both the UK and the US. He was formerly Director of Programs and General Counsel for the Trace Foundation, and has also worked with various other non-profit organisations.
Robert is former Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide (Europe, Africa, and Middle East Division). He is currently vice-chairman of the board of the UK Committee for UNICEF in London and serves on the Advisory Board of New Perimeter, the non-profit subsidiary of DLA Piper.
Jon is a respected broadcaster and writer and former BBC Home Affairs correspondent. He is currently Professor of Media and Criminal Justice at the University of Bedfordshire.
Elizabeth is Distinguished Fellow, International Law, at Chatham House. She was a legal adviser in the United Kingdom diplomatic service between 1974 and 2003.
